Many people think of Hong Kong as a disgusting, over-populated city filled with smoke-belching factories and power stations, ceaseless construction and a large number of diesel vehicles making the air filled with dangerous levels of particular matter and nitrogen dioxide.
But, it also has nice hiking trails. Last weekend we hiked Stages 7 and 8 of the eight stage Hong Kong trail. Stage 8 includes Dragon's Back, one of HK's most famous hikes, which takes you along a ridge forming the backbone of the southeast headland of Hong Kong Island.
Below,
View of village of Shek-O/Big Wave Bay from Dragon's Back:

View of Tai Tam Bay. The main point of this picture is this railing that is constructed of a hiker's pole, some rusty tomato stakes, an old tripod, and countless other useless materials. Obviously, they take their safety very seriously.

Tai Tam Bay again.
