Today was a big week in China (actually in real China right now its Golden Week - a 7 day continuous holiday starting from October 1). On October 1, China celebrated its 60th anniversary as a black hole of free speech/Communist republic. The Chinese, not ones to waste precious yuan on oh, say, feeding the hundreds of millions of starving peasant farmers living in their midst, staged a giant military parade.
More relevant to my life, there were really cool fireworks in Hong Kong. Yaaayyy CHINA!
Don't worry though, no normal Chinese people were allowed to attend (too much risk for "complications"). Power to the people though, right? Here you can read about some of the PRC's accomplishments since its founding.
But who cares about all that. Let's get on to the fashion.
The People's Liberation Army drabbed it up in boring military green, however you can't really argue with a classic knee high boot when it comes to ringing in the fall.

The women's militia, however, really brought it home with these crisp red little numbers. I don't know about you but for me this really confirms that pill box hats and machine guns are the must have accessories for the season.

This weekend is also Mid-Autumn Festival, aka the Moon Festival. It is sort of like the equinox for the sun but for the moon. For Mid-Autumn Festival there is a fire dragon dance and people eat moon cakes, which are some sort of disgusting bread product filled with some sort of disgusting paste. Normally they look like a pretty standard pastry.
